Popular day trips from Tokyo

Hello again from Japan, where everyone is gearing up for the holidays! Five days till Christmas can you believe? I fly to NZ on Saturday night at 9.25pm, and I'm leaving straight from work, so it's gonna be a long day... Luckily I can get a direct train from work out to the airport. I arrive in Auckland on Sunday at 12pm, and then fly to Christchurch at 2pm before finally arriving in Queenstown at around 5pm after a brief stop in Christchurch. I'll be quite tight on time with these connections, so hopefully there are no delays! So excited to see family and friends, and of course my two cats, my fur babies! Also ready for some summer weather, given that it's getting cold here, but New Zealand summer can be unpredictable. I've done the majority of my souvenir shopping, but I will pick up a few more bits and pieces at the airport. For the last blog of 2018, I wanted to talk about a few popular day trips from Tokyo, as doing day trips has been a big part of my year. Go...

Top travel destinations in Japan.

Hello again from Tokyo! Christmas is fast approaching, and I'm starting to do a bit of Christmas shopping, and really get into the spirit of the holidays! I promised I'd try and make this a weekly thing, so this week I thought I'd give an overview of some of the top travel destinations across Japan for you all. I have chosen a few really popular spots, along with some of the less well known cities with lots to offer, so let's get started. 1) Tokyo! I thought I'd start with the most obvious one haha. People usually start here as it has the biggest international airport and is the most foreigner friendly place. There's also a tonne of things to see and do here, including shopping, beautiful parks, lots of amazing restaurants, a fun nightlife, as well as Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea! There are great museums for learning about history, art and culture, and some iconic spots such as Asakusa and Shibuya.  There are also a few good day trips you can do from Tokyo...

Life lessons.

Hello again! I seem to be uploading a new post weekly at the moment, which is something I'm quite proud of actually. Today is officially the first of December! It's now officially acceptable, in my books, to bust out the Christmas tunes and put up the tree, although according to Japan it's been acceptable since the 1st of November. A touch too early for my liking, but we're now heading into a  truly wonderful time of year. Need to start my Christmas shopping (probably going to be mostly Japanese souvenirs to take home to the family). The end of the year is fast approaching and I wanted to touch on a few things I've learned and mistakes I've made this year, life lessons if you will. It's inevitable that you will make mistakes when you live abroad and learn a few lessons along the way, so here we go. Check that you're getting on the right train! Luckily this hasn't happened to me too many times, but there have been times where I've gotten on a ra...
